Outline

An introduction to photo-editing and enhancing. It is proposed that the course will use the free program Paint.Net which can be downloaded from teh Internet. The tutor will give you instructions. There is also a very good Manual for this program which is also available on the internet in .pdf format. The operation of Paint.Net is similar in many ways to Photoshop Elements. Background

This course is suitable for people with some artistic ability and who are very familiar with basic computing skills. Knowledge of the Windows file structure is paramount. If you can't easily find files/folders on your computer, please attend a File management course before you come to this course.

Topics Covered Include

• Methods of selection
• Tools which are available to enhance graphics
• Colour and contrast and the many filters that are available for special effects
• Concepts behind the production of composites and the use of layers.
• Methods for forwarding photos by e-mail.
• There is no need to own any version of Photoshop, but for those who do have it, we are able to give some tuition.

Skills Required

Students must have a good knowledge of their Windows operating system, competence with the mouse, basic word processing and file management.

Hardware Required

It is not necessary to have a digital camera or a scanner.
